True Wilderness Just Outside Your Cabin Door

Day 1

Arrive Fairbanks

Whether you are arriving into Fairbanks from another Alaska destination, or this is your first stop in Alaska, an overnight in Fairbanks is required prior to departing for Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge.  A private vehicle and driver will meet you to provide a transfer to your hotel, with sightseeing in route if times allows.

Overnight in comfortable accommodations in Fairbanks.

Day 2

Fairbanks to Iniakuk Lake Lodge

After a complimentary breakfast the next morning, a private transfer will be provided to the Fairbanks Airport where you will board a small plane for the flight to Bettles (about 1-hour). Once in Bettles, you will transfer to a float plane for the remaining 30-minute flight to Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lake.  Lodge staff will meet you upon arrival and provide you with a brief orientation before you enjoy a delicious gourmet meal.

Spend the next three nights at Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge.

Day 3

Alaska Wilderness Everywhere

Begin your wilderness adventures at Iniakuk Lodge as you and your companions choose between guided or self-guided activities such as kayaking, hiking, or bird watching.  The area surrounding the main lodge is home to a number of black bear, grizzly bear, and moose and your personal lodge guide can connect you with your preferred activities.  The long summer days bring ample opportunity for adventure around the corner.  Relax around the campfire as you roast marshmallows and reminisce about the day’s adventures.

Day 4

Views Beyond Your Dreams

A unique detail about Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge is the property’s close proximity to two of Alaska’s most remote National Parks – Kobuk National Park and Gates of the Arctic National Park.  Gates of the Arctic National Park is just a few minutes north of the lodge by plane.  At 8.2 million acres, it lies entirely above the Arctic Circle and encompasses several mountain ranges.  To the west, 1.75-million acres comprise Kobuk National Park, home of the Kobuk Sand Dunes.  Fill your National Parks Passport with stamps from both parks during a full-day adventure by bush plane to both destinations.

Day 5

Back to Fairbanks and Homeward Ho!

After breakfast at the Lodge, return to Fairbanks via Bettles by  floatplane. Your private driver/guide will meet you upon arrival after which you will embark on a private city tour of Fairbanks. Overnight in Fairbanks or continue on your next Alaska adventure.

Amenities, nearby adventures and more...

Main Lodge

The main lodge is situated a few hundred feet away from Iniakuk Lake and contains the dining hall, kitchen, and guest rooms. It offers a cozy wood-burning stove with a comfortable seating area for guests to relax at the end of the day, as well as a nearby sauna for further relaxation.

Guest Rooms

The lodge’s guest rooms are smartly decorated while still maintaining a highly rustic ambiance that compliments the remote surroundings at Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge. Some rooms have en-suite bathrooms, while others will share the bathhouse, which is equipped with modern showers and endless hot water—a rare commodity in the far north! Some rooms offer fireplaces, and all boast stunning views of the lake or surrounding landscape.

The lodge is only accessible by small plane from Fairbanks. Although hiking trails branch out from the lodge, the rugged landscape requires a plane to reach most destinations in the area as there are no roads.

Hand-crafted meals are served family-style in the lodge, prepared using local produce and meats whenever possible. Storytelling over dinner is highly encouraged.

Wake up every morning to the smell of freshly baked sourdough bread, pastries, and a number of other irresistible dishes. In the evenings, sit down and enjoy local Alaska salmon, decadent desserts complimented by freshly picked blueberries, and a bounty of vegetables grown on site—a courtesy of the midnight sun.

Guests at Iniakuk Lodge can choose their own a private floatplane adventure into the Alaskan bush. You might like to float down a remote river by canoe, go flight-seeing over the Kobuk National Park Sand Dunes in Kobuk Valley National Park, or fly over the Arrigetch Peaks in the Endicott Mountains of the central Brooks Range.

Other activities options at Iniakuk Lodge include a picnic lunch near migrating caribou, canoeing on the picturesque Iniakuk Lake, a multitude of hiking options in the Brooks Range, or a day of local fishing.
